A RUNNER from Weston who took part in the New York Marathon bumped into some famous celebrities while he was there.
Rob Harris, of South Road, met none other than Hollywood legend Robert Redford the night after he completed the gruelling race earlier this month.
The 49-year-old, who was running for the charity Children with Leukaemia and hoped to raise £5,000 in sponsorship, also bumped into fellow marathon runner Paula Radcliffe, who won this year's women's event.
He said: "She was very nice, down to earth and didn't mind having her photo taken."
Weston & Somerset Mercury reporter Mark Mistry also ran this year's marathon in the 'city that never sleeps'.
The plucky newsman romped home in a competitive three hours and 52 minutes.
The 25-year-old, who ran for MIND, the mental health charity, hopes to raise more than £1,500.
He said: "It was a great way to see New York but walking around shopping afterwards hurt more than just my wallet."
