A NORTH Somerset woman who has recovered from her battle with cancer is now leading others in a fundraising bid.
Suzanne Halford, 40, is starting the Race For Life event next week in Weston with a speech and by heading the pack at the start line.
She was diagnosed with a rare cancer last summer but has since made huge strides towards recovery.
On the day she will be joined by sister Juliet, 42, and their 68-year-old mother Hilary Emery, who is also a trustee of Weston Hospicecare.
Mrs Emery said: “I feel very proud, it is something well deserved. She has fought this and come out the other side.”
Hilary’s husband, Suzanne and Juliet’s father, was also diagnosed with cancer six years ago and is still undergoing treatment.
Suzanne will be joined with her two daughters Jemma, aged 12, and 10-year-old Lucy, with her husband Justin cheering them on.
Race For Life will be held on Weston beach on May 11 from 11am.
