A Weston-super-Mare-based youth group has donated £1,000 to three charities.

The Weston and Banwell Young Farmers Club (YFC) presented a cheque to the Harvey Hext Trust: A Sibling’s Wish, Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) and Weston’s RNLI last week.

The YFC is a group of 20 young farmers who work with teenagers and young adults to provide them with an opportunity to gain skills in everyday activities.

The group donated £1,000 to each of the three charities for individual reasons.

Annabel Jones, from the YFC, said: “We chose the lifeboat station following a tour they gave us around, it was very interesting and it is a very good cause.

“The RABI charity help farmers and families who struggle to help keep their lives going.”

The group also chose the Harvey Hext charity, which was set up in memory of a young boy called Harvey who died in 2015 after a six-year battle with cancer.

The charity creates bespoke memory boxes to help preserve memories of lost siblings.
