A Weston charity hopes to raise more than £50,000 to support war veterans.
The Royal British Legion in Weston and Worle launched its Poppy Appeal last week and volunteers will be out in the High Street of both areas selling the red Remembrance Day tokens.
People can donate what they like to buy a poppy but all money raised will go towards helping wounded and former servicemen and women who have been affected by the past 100 years of battles and wars.
Poppy organiser, Lyn Lovell, said volunteers hope to better last year’s fundraising total of £51,500.
She added: “We would like to thank those who have supported us previously and would also like to appeal for any more volunteers who could help us to come forward.”
Poppies are available at the Mercury’s office and the appeal’s shop, which both are in Waterloo Street.
To get involved in the appeal, call Lyn on 07581 731307.
