Students and staff at a Weston-super-Mare secondary school raised hundreds of pounds for the town's Foodbank by wearing an array of Christmas jumpers.

Broadoak Mathematics and Computing College, in Windwhistle Road, invited members of its school community to wear their finest festive attire on December 14.

The day coincided with the serving of the school’s popular Christmas dinner.

A spokesman for the school said people were invited to make donations to Weston Foodbank on the day, and the school was able to raise £212 for the charity.

The spokesman said: “When this amount was combined with the money raised during our Year 10 charity week and at our Christmas carol concert, we raised a total of £272 for Weston Foodbank.

“We would also like to thank all of our year 10 students who spent the last week of term collecting food parcels for the Foodbank.”

The Foodbank offers emergency meals to people in need.
