A Weston-super-Mare group which aims to increase use of the town’s Grove Park held a picnic this week, with people tuning out to enjoy fun and games in the sunshine.

The Friends of Grove Park hosted a picnic on Saturday, with volunteers taking on gardening jobs before enjoying a spot of lunch and a range of fun activities.

The group believes the park is a ‘community asset’ and frequently holds events to spruce up its greenery.

Anne Bunn, of the friends group, said: “As a result of this event, we have had suggestions of circus skills and forest craft activities to be run by interested volunteers.

“The profile of the park as an all encompassing community asset has been highlighted once again, which we are keen to build on.

“The biggest need now is for increasing numbers of volunteers.

“If anyone is keen to find out more, please call me on 07860 937974, contact us via our Facebook page, or look out for us in our bright green T-shirts on Saturday or Sunday afternoons.”
