Authors, illustrators and creative writing groups are being invited to get involved in a literary festival, due to be held in Weston-super-Mare next year.

Weston Town Council is organising the first literary festival to take place in the town from February 22 to March 1, with the last day coinciding with World Book Day.

The council is still in the early planning stages, but wants to hear from poets, publishers and book clubs who might want to be involved in talks and workshops.

Town council clerk Malcolm Nicholson said: “Although we are starting small, a literary festival could develop into a great annual event for Weston.

“We want to hear from creative people in the local area who would like to be involved.”
