Weston-super-Mare man praised for fantastic dedication to charity

A Weston-super-Mare man has won a top award for his incredible work helping people with dementia.

Alan Richardson topped the Bringing People Together category in the Alzheimer’s Society’s People Awards for his role in uniting people in Weston to support those affect by dementia.

Alan was the primary carer for his late mother, who lived with the illness for almost 15 years.

While caring for his mother, Alan developed a large network of contacts across the council, health and voluntary organisations to help him deliver the service.

He was presented with the award by Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra, the charity’s royal patron.

Alan said: “I am one of many people who are passionate about improving the lives of those affected by dementia.

“All those who were at the ceremony were winners and were part of a very special day.”
