Glitz and glamour were in abundance at a Weston-super-Mare nursing home open day on Saturday.

Beach Lawns Residential and Nursing Home, in Beach Road, welcomed people from the community to its 1920s-themed care home open day.

The event also marked the Queen’s 92nd birthday.

Residents and staff donned their finest frocks and homemade crowns for the event and enjoyed live music and food.

Activities leader Richard Roberts said: “It was a really lovely day and it was so nice to see all of our residents together, singing along to the music. A good time was had by all.”

This year marks the home’s sixth open day as part of Care Home Open Day, a nationwide event where homes open their doors and welcome people inside.

Sanctuary Care, which runs the home, also marked 20 years of delivering its care during the weekend.
