Weston-super-Mare Olympian Paulo Radmilovic 'should be honoured' with blue plaque

An Olympian who spent most of his life in Weston-super-Mare could be celebrated with a blue plaque after efforts were revived to recognise his achievements.
Paulo Radmilovic won four gold medals in the Olympic Games between 1908 and 1920, in swimming and water polo, and later ran the Imperial pub in South Parade. Efforts got underway in 2012 to buy a plaque for the Imperial in his honour, and Weston Town Council voted to pay for it.
The idea was held up when the pub closed, but Mike Coles, chief coach at Weston Water Polo Club, hopes to resurrect the plan now the Imperial is thriving again.
He said: “As a town, we should honour this great Olympian.”
