A Weston-super-Mare restaurant owner has been described as ‘inspirational’ at an awards ceremony.

Sayd Ahmed, who owns Pappadoms in Milton Road, won the title of Most Inspirational at the first Asian Restaurant Owners Network (ARON) event.

A spokesman said: “Sayd Ahmed works tirelessly, and inspires others through his charity work.

“Sayd’s entire Boxing Day takings are donated to charity, and during the fasting month of Ramadan, his days are spent cooking up food for local charities before heading straight back into work.

“His work ethic is phenomenal.”

Throughout Ramadan, Sayd and his team cook food for homeless people living on Weston’s streets.

He has also given money to the Weston Disability Information Advice Line.

ARON brings restaurant owners together to share ideas and inspire a new generation of Asian cooks.
