A referee from Weston-super-Mare will be out of the game for 'a few weeks' after he suffered injuries in a League Two match between Plymouth Argyle and Colchester United on Saturday.
Kevin Johnson collided with Plymouth striker Jimmy Spencer during the match and was unable to get to his feet – prompting fears he had been knocked unconscious.
However, he was then safely stretchered off the pitch in a neck brace and transported to Derriford Hospital.
A spokesman for the English Football League told the Mercury Mr Johnson has now left hospital but has ‘some blurred vision’ and ‘ligament damage’ to his neck.
