A North Somerset road has been named as the most dangerous in the South West for motorcyclists.

The A370 is the most unsafe road in the region for motorbike riders, according to Swinton Insurance.

The insurance broker has examined Government statistics and found the road, which runs from Bristol to East Brent via Weston-super-Mare, is the most unsafe in the region for motorists on two wheels.

But the A370 is also one of the most dangerous routes for motorcyclists nationally too, with Swinton ranking it at number four in the UK.

Across the South West, Swinton reports there are 13 motorbike accidents per 100,000 people, which is lower than the national average of 16.

Men are 91 per cent more likely to be involved in a motorcycle accident than women in the region, according to Swinton, and the most likely age to be involved in an accident is 25.
