People had the rare opportunity to quiz police officers about their work across Weston-super-Mare.

A community information event showcased the work of the Bournville and Oldmixon’s One Team.

Police officers encouraged people to get involved in Neighbourhood Watch schemes across the estates, while information and advice was also available from Alliance Homes, Avon Fire and Rescue Service, North Somerset Children’s Centre, the Job Centre and Addaction.

PC Nick Falconer said: “The One Team felt there was a need to hold our first child-friendly information event, as opposed to traditional beat surgeries.

“Children were able to play on the bouncy castle and look around the police van and fire engine, while their parents and carers were able to understand more about the opportunities available.”

The One Team said the event was a success and will hold another in the summer.
