A Weston man who served in the army will fulfil a long-held ambition to run the London Marathon this weekend.
David Underwood will take on the 26.2-mile race on Sunday in aid of the Army Benevolent Fund.
Having served in the forces, he hopes to help the charity which supports servicemen young and old.
David, who ran Weston and Bath's half marathons to prepare, has already smashed his fundraising target of £2,000, and he hopes to receive more donations.
He said: “On Sunday at 10am I'll be lining up ready to start the world's most iconic marathon.
“This is a race I've hoped to run for many years and it is an opportunity to raise some funds for a charity which has been supporting soldiers, veterans and their families since 1944.”
