Five things to do in Weston-super-Mare this weekend

The RSPCA dog show can be enjoyed in the town, alongside other activities which Weston-super-Mare will offer visitors this weekend. n RSPCA’s Fun Dog Show And Fete will be back in town on Sunday.

The event held at Beach Lawns, in Beach Road, will showcase a variety of dogs competing in 80 different categories for awards.

Due to popular demand last year, the show ring is being made bigger so more dogs can compete and the event raises money for the RSPCA charity.

The fete starts at 11am and the dog show takes place at noon.

n The Little Mix Experience comes to Weston’s Playhouse, in High Street, on Saturday.

The concert being held at the Playhouse will see a tribute to girl band Little Mix perform many of the groups’ popular songs and on-stage routines.

The event starts at 6pm and tickets, priced £17, are available from or on 01934 645544.

n Winter Gardens’ Pavilion, in Royal Parade, will host a social dancing event on Sunday.

People have the opportunity to dance throughout the afternoon in its Grand Ballroom and the event will be hosted by Mr Pinstripe.

Doors open at 1.45pm and the dance starts at 2pm.

n Weston’s Helicopter Museum, in Locking Moor Road, is holding a World Helicopter Day event on Sunday.

The museum holds a collection of more than 100 helicopters on display and is offering visitors the chance to take a seat in five of its fleet’s cockpits.

Models including the Mil Mi-24 Hind gunship and utility military models the Lynx and Westland 300 will be there on the day and the museum is also offering people a gazelle helicopter simulation experience.

The event starts at 10am and tickets, priced £7.50, are available from the venue.

n The Continental Street Market is taking place in Pier Square until Sunday.

It’s the first year Continental Street Market has visited the town, and with it comes a mixture of stalls selling food and craft trinkets.

The event will take place from today until Sunday ending at 5pm, but started on Wednesday at 10am.
