A Weston-super-Mare nurse has been given the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse.

Helen Ford, from the Locality Health Centre and the town’s Clarence Park Surgery,
was presented with the title for her community nursing by the Queen’s Nursing Institute.

Helen is the specialist diabetes nurse at the surgery and runs regular self-help groups.

The award is in recognition of her extraordinary ability to work with patients to help them manage their diabetes well.

The Queen’s Nurse award indicates a commitment to high standards of patient care, learning and leadership.

Mark Graham, chief executive of the Locality Health Centre on the Bournville, was delighted to learn of Helen’s success.

He said: “This is such a well-deserved recognition of all the work Helen does.

“She has a real ability to get alongside people and help them take control of their lives.

“We are all very proud of her.”
