Weston-super-Mare’s Kelly set to share the stage with X Factor star

A Weston-super-Mare singer has been hand-picked to support former X Factor winner Sam Bailey on stage – an opportunity she never thought would become a reality.
Kelly Griggs, aged 25, told the Mercury she couldn’t believe it when the singer called her to tell her she wanted her to accompany her on the Sing My Heart Out tour.
The full-time mum will take to the stage on May 17 at the Bristol Hippodrome and says she is incredibly excited and nervous at the prospect.
She said: “A family friend tagged me in something where you could send in a video of yourself singing and get the opportunity to support Sam Bailey.
“So I sent a video of myself performing at Bonds and did not really think anything more of it.
“I didn’t tell anyone about it and it is quite incredible how it all happened. I was up feeding my four-month old and I got a Facetime call from Sam Bailey. I thought it was a wind-up but then I saw her face and she said she would love to have me perform on her tour.
“When I said I was from Weston, she then said it would be great to have me in Bristol. Everyone was so shocked as I didn’t tell anyone as I didn’t think it would come to anything.
“I am so excited but so nervous too. I will have all my family and friends there to support me which will be great.”
Kelly will support Sam Bailey at the Bristol Hippodrome on May 17 at 7.30pm. Tickets, priced £27.40-80.15, are available online via www.atgtickets.com/bristolhippodrome
