Kezia Povey, aged 15, and her band Sweet Sense just missed the mark in Saturday’s episode of X Factor when they performed History by One Direction for mentor Robbie Williams and comedian David Walliams at Robbie’s Los Angeles home.

Kezia told the Mercury: “He (Robbie) had these massive gates at the front of his house and they opened and he comes out and we all run up to him for a hug. We got to play tennis with him and enjoy a barbecue with them.

“When we found out the guest judge was David Walliams, we were so excited. I love him and he is so funny.”

Despite not making it through to the live shows, the Priory Community School pupil said the whole experience was ‘incredible’ and there was ‘nothing she would do differently’.

Robbie told the girls at Judges’ Houses after their performance they had ‘incredible voices’.

But, when he delivered his decision he said: “You have super personalities, super powers, super charisma, just like the Spice Girls. The chemistry between you guys is not 100 per cent and that is understandable because you have only been together for days.”

David praised the quintet as ‘great vocalists’ but Robbie had reservations about the ‘nervous looks’ the girls gave each other, which he felt might be a problem.

Kezia said: “We did not get through unfortunately. My heart was beating so fast and I was holding Gaia’s hand so hard.

“We could tell by how he was telling us that we knew where it was going.

“To go from learning to sing at my primary school, St Georges, to performing in Los Angeles, it is just amazing really.

“I do not know if I am going to go back next year but being able to have singing lessons for the first time was great and meeting the girls was amazing.

“We are still talking and are making plans to watch the live shows together. We are so happy for the groups who got through – they are our friends and we will be cheering them on.

“I wouldn’t change a thing and we did everything we could do and the chemistry we had was great.”

The X Factor will be back on Saturday for the live shows at 8.35pm on ITV1.
