Weston-super-Mare's sea cadets have won a national drill competition for the third year running.

The team, which trains at its Sunnyside Road base, competed in the National Drill and Ceremonial Competition held at HMS Raleigh in Cornwall.

Weston sea cadet spokesman Davinia Tippett said: “Both teams trained hard and put a lot of time and effort into their routines, with excellent results, with the colour party coming third and the guard winning.

“These are fantastic results for the cadets.”

A national sea cadets spokesman said: “Congratulations to all of the cadets who took part at the national drill and piping competition on the weekend.

“Hours of time was put in by everyone prior to the competition with the area teams practising routines to impress the judges and take home the winning prizes.”
