Weston-super-Mare Sea Cadets have enjoyed a major success by winning a national competition.

The cadets took part in the National Drill and Piping Competition at HMS Raleigh on April 29.

The nine youngsters from the Weston base, in Sunnyside Road North, went up against seven different squads from across the UK.

The cadets had a month between the area and national competition to perfect their routine and correct their uniforms.

Commanding officer Sub-Lieutenant Barry Fear said: “The cadets put a lot of hard work in and they got a great result for all their effort.”
