Some supermarket fridges in Weston-super-Mare have been put out of action due to the hot weather.

Staff at both Sainsbury’s in Queensway and Morrisons in Elmham Way have confirmed they are experiencing problems as a result of the recent heatwave, which is preventing some fridges maintaining a cool temperature.

A Sainsburys spokesman said: “We have had a few issues (with fridges) in store but are doing everything we can to get them back online.

“The equipment is struggling to keep at a cool enough temperature.

“I think a lot of stores in Weston are the same.”

Temperatures are expected to reach 30C in Weston this afternoon (Wednesday), but a spell of cooler weather is due to begin tomorrow.
