Weston teenager died after being hit by train

An 18-year-old man from Weston-super-Mare died after being hit by a train yesterday (Tuesday).

Officers from the British Transport Police (BTP) were called to the line close to Westbury Crescent, in Weston, at 4.35pm following reports someone had been struck by a train.

A BTP spokesman said: “Colleagues from the ambulance service also attended, however, an 18-year-old man, from Weston, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed.

“This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
