A group of young people from Weston-super-Mare organised an event in Grove Park to raise awareness of mental health.

The team, called Doing What We Should, took part in the National Citizen Service programme and decided to build a project around mental health as part of the scheme.

They painted a mural for the park at first, but then decided to expand the
project and put an event together.

A fun run was held in Grove Park to raise money for 1in4 which helps people with mental health issues in North Somerset.

There were also games and face-painting.

Phoebe Kibble, who worked on the project said: “Most of the people in our team had an interest in mental health and we wanted to see if we could make a difference in our area.

“We handed out a lot of leaflets and spoke to people about mental health and we raised quite a bit of money for 1in4 as well.

“The event went really well.”
