Temperatures in Weston-super-Mare look set to reach 30C today (Wednesday).

Met Office figures show yesterday’s high in the town reached 28.7C at 4pm, but that will increase as the mercury is predicted to hit 30 this afternoon.

UV levels are also expected to be extremely high while there will be very little breeze throughout the day.

Despite temperatures barely dipping below 20C last night, this evening looks to be cooler with a low of about 16C forecast for the early hours of tomorrow morning.

Forecasters believe some parts of the UK could see temperatures as high as 34C – the hottest June day in the past 40 years.

The soaring temperatures across the country have led Public Health England to issue guidance urging people to stay hydrated, stay in shade and wear sun cream.
