Weston-super-Mare will celebrate its night-time economy this weekend, and you can learn more on efforts to keep people safe after dark.

Purple Flag Day will be marked in Weston on Saturday, celebrating the town’s ‘safe and diverse’ selection of pubs, clubs and restaurants.

Weston was awarded Purple Flag status for the third consecutive year in February after a joint bid from North Somerset Council, Weston Business Improvement District and Avon and Somerset Constabulary.

People will be able to learn more about the Mavis bus, which will be parked in Princess Royal Square from 4pm.

The bus serves as a hub for emergency services and other agencies on busy nights in town, offering support to people enjoying a night out.

Purple Flag Day coincides with Eat: Weston food festival in the Italian Gardens, and an evening fireworks display at the Grand Pier.
