A new conservation project has been launched in North Somerset and it is aiming to recruit some eager Westonians to take part and give back to the community.

Osprey Outdoors has received a Big Lottery grant for the project and it aims to develop people’s confident using outdoor activities.

These include footpath clearing, tree planting and hedge planting across the district.

The company put together a stall at the For All Healthy Living Centre, in Lonsdale Avenue on the Bournville, to tell people about the project.

The tasks will take place weekly and there will be pick up points from Weston in order for people to get back on their feet.

Wendy Watkins, director of Osprey Outdoors, said: “This project will give individuals the opportunity to work in a caring environment, at their own pace, without the need to explain why they are not in work, or feel they are outsiders from an established group.”
