A Weston-super-Mare woman held a raffle and cake sale at the Bournville's For All Healthy Living, in Lonsdale Avenue, on Tuesday.
Gemma Langley was raising money for Weston children’s charity, Springboard Opportunity Group.
Gemma and her friends decided to help Springboard – which supports North Somerset children with disabilities and additional needs – after hearing about its problems with reduced funding.
Gemma said: “Springboard has given my niece a safe environment, with high ratios of care where she can achieve her early years’ experiences.
“I want to ensure that children have the same opportunities in the future.”
The charity’s co-chief executive officer, Ann Ramsey, said: “Everyone at Springboard is very grateful to be chosen as the beneficiary of all their hard work and cake baking too.
“. As a charity and service-provider, we receive part of our funding from the local authority; but we have to rely on fundraising and individual donations to provide the rest and times are hard at the moment.
“So we are especially grateful to people like Gemma who go out of their way in order to raise the funds we need to continue our invaluable work.”
