A charitable Weston-super-Mare teenager has enlisted the help of his schoolmates to help raise more money for good causes.
The Mercury reported in May how 15-year-old Josh Bell was raising money for Bristol Children’s Hospital through the Grand Appeal to thank the medics who saved his life as a baby.
Medics discovered Josh had a life-threatening heart condition at just six weeks old and he had emergency open heart surgery.
He had a stroke after his first surgery which caused health issues including stunted growth in his foot.
He went on to have four operations including a five-hour surgery on his foot last year.
After the surgery scar finally healed he decided to take on some charity work to give something back to the community.
But instead of raising money for just one good cause, Josh also decided to join his friends on a sponsored walk to raise money for Age UK.
Josh and his friends Chloe Chadwick, Ellie Evans, Chelsea Hutchinson and Melissa Badman tackled a five-mile walk.
Josh’s mum Liz said: “Obviously I am so proud of him and he is so passionate. It is lovely that he has that in him.”
So far, the group has raised £180, but has a target of £250.
