A retired Weston woman has completed a gruelling 50-mile bike ride on July 2.

Cyclist Debbie Marriott tackled the Gorge-ous Cycle Challenge after completing a one-day 50-mile bike ride, including a 2.5-mile 500ft climb up Cheddar Gorge.

Debbie, a member of national charity Cycling UK, has been training along with her fellow cyclists since early February.

Debbie said: “At the end of it, I felt so elated, to have actually cycled up Cheddar Gorge and reach the top is amazing.

“The challenge was so well organised. The riders and volunteers really made it great.”
