A WESTON woman reached an enormous milestone on Wednesday – her 109th birthday.

Mary Bearne, of Little Orchard, Weston, enjoyed a multi-generational party and was visited by Weston MP John Penrose and mayor David Hitchins.

More than 20 family and friends including sons David and John, daughter Jennifer, grandchildren Nikki, Melanie, James, Dawn and Julie and great-grandchildren Sam and Katrina visited The Manor House nursing home in Uphill Road South to toast Mary’s longevity.

Mary’s daughter Jennifer Matthews said: “I think she was very pleased to see everyone.

“She has always been a very positive person and she likes to stay active.”
