A group of Weston-super-Mare women have cycled more than 60 miles to raise thousands of pounds for charity.

Michelle Meakin, Claire Berry, Lesley Bowskill, Nicky Baker, Ness Wilce-Brown, Lynne Parsonage, Louise Pople and Kym Pope completed Women v Cancer Ride the Night at the weekend.

The challenge saw them cycle through the heart of London during the night before heading back to the start point at Windsor Racecourse.

The group managed to raise £3,500 for Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action.

Kym said: “We battled through, soaked through, but carried on.

“With laughter and encouragement from each other it was a fun experience.

“We had a lot of support from family and friends.”

Howards Motor Group donated a van to take their equipment in while Bicycle Chain donated cycling vests.
