THREE Weston residents will be hoping to raise charity in a novel way in the next two weeks.

John Richards and Simon and Maria Carpenter will be travelling around Weston in evenings on a custom-made float to raise money for the Meningitis Trust.

Mr Carpenter, who lost his younger brother to meningitis, and Mr Richards say they got the idea from their previous involvement in carnival clubs.

He said: “We’re hoping to raise a lot of money for the trust. The council has granted us permission to do this for the next two weeks, and then hopefully we can extend that.”
