CHRISTMAS is set to be a wet one, rather than a white one, with the Met Office warning of possible floods in the next 24 hours.

Days of consistent rain have caused widespread flooding across the South West.

But North Somerset has been largely unaffected with Avon Fire and Rescue reporting a quiet weekend with only a few minor incidents.

Trains between Weston and Bristol continued to run all weekend although many were delayed due to standing water on the track.

Persistent rain decimated sporting fixtures and has seen Bleadon Hill Golf Club close due to a waterlogged course.

And it appears a wet Christma is on the cards with a severe weather warning in place until tomorrow evening.

Up to 30mm of rain is expected to fall today (Mon), making driving conditions treacherous.
