CHILDREN on a group of Weston housing estates are being asked to prove why their granny is the greatest.Youngsters on the Bournville, Oldmixon, Coronation and Potteries estates are being asked to show why their grandmother is better than the rest.At this year's Strawberry Fair at Coniston Green on the Bournville, organisers are hoping to pick a winner from the nominations to crown as the fair's Strawberry Grandmother.The winner will be picked up from their home on the day of the event, June 30, and taken by limousine to the green, where they will be 'treated like a queen' for the afternoon.Grandchildren will have to prove their granny has great community spirit, has a responsible attitude, is friendly and outgoing and is always there when they are needed.Nomination forms are being handed out to schools on the estates or youngsters can pick one up from the Community Cafe at the For All Healthy living Centre in Lonsdale Road on the Bournville.At the fair there will be exhibitions from the fire brigade, a martial arts demonstration, a play about the Bournville by Theatre Orchard, a majorettes display, tombola, raffle and a myriad of stalls.The day is being organised by residents, the For All Healthy Living Centre the South Ward Community Association.
