AFTER a long week, what could be better than to sit down with a bottle of delicious Somerset ale?

If that sounds like your idea of heaven then you are in luck, because the Mercury has teamed up with Cheddar Ales to offer a case of 12 beers each to three lucky readers.

Cheddar Ales, based at Winchester Farm in Cheddar, was launched by Jem Ham in 2006.

The entire brewing process is carried out on the site, as well as the bottling and the labelling.

The brewery recently launched its light Hardrock Pale Ale with spicy, herbal flavours and a floral citrus finish.

Cheddar Ales will also have a stand at the Weston super Food Festival on September 26 and 27, where people will be able to pick up some of their beers.

The 12-bottle case includes two bottles of Goat’s Leap IPA, which has won gold at the Taste Of The West awards.

The hoppy Crown And Glory, also found in the case, won a gold award and a Great Taste award. The beer was launched to coincide with the Queen’s Jubilee and the Olympics, but proved so popular it is now served every year.

Fans of golden ales can enjoy the Potholer, which is packed full of zesty fruit flavours.

The Gorge Best is a best bitter and the Totty Pot is a dark porter with a roasted malt character.

The straw-coloured Bitter Bully with a hoppy aroma and dry citrus finish completes the case.

Winners must collect their prizes from the Mercury office, so they can bring ID to prove that they are aged over 18 and legally able to claim their ales.

The competition closes at 10am on September 18.
