THE star of a classic BBC television show will return to a Weston theatre next week in a new one-man show.Following the success of Three Men In A Boat last year, the original star of BBC's The Likely Lads, Rodney Bewes, returns to The Playhouse on Wednesday.Rodney, best known for his portrayal of Bob Ferris in The Likely Lads, has adapted George and Weedon Grossmith's much-loved comic novel The Diary of a Nobody into a charming and hilarious one-man show, in which he stars, directs and produces himself.A hugely entertaining chronicle of English life and trivia in its Victorian heyday, The Diary of a Nobody centres on the character of Charles Pooter, an assistant in a mercantile business.Through his diary, we follow Pooter through a year of domestic crisis, blunders and hopes, and hear his strong views on amateur dramatics.From respectable suburbia to the city office, he tells of his constant war against insolent tradesmen, impudent junior clerks, and his irrepressible son Lupin.Rodney Bewes' entertaining adaptation made its debut at the prestigious Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2000 where it sold out the Assembly Rooms and won critical acclaim.The show starts at 7.30pm.
