MUSICIANS from the finest folk rock bands of the last 30 years are joining forces for a special celebration.The celebration of English folk rock music will be staged on November 16 at The Playhouse, Weston, and The Gathering features players whose combined experience have seen them record or perform with some of the most influential artistes and record companies across the world.The line up stars former and current members of Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span, Lindisfarne, Magna Carte, The Albion Band, Jethro Tull and Pentangle.The consummate guitarist of The Gathering, Jerry Donahue, has played in bands such as Fortheringay and Fairport Convention, and alongside George Harrison and Roy Orbison.On bass and vocals is Rick Kemp, a member of Steeleye Span for over 20 years and a member of the Maddy Prior Band in the late 1980s.Keeping the beat alive for The Gathering will be drummer Clive Bunker, who joined the fledgling Jethro Tull in 1967. His many credits include music groups such as Blodwyn Pig and Gordon Giltrap.Founder and frontman of Lindisfarne, Ray Jackson, plays mandolin, harmonica and vocals. Ray has also worked on sessions for other leading recording artistes such as Rod Stewart and Chris de Burgh.Guitarist and vocalist Doug Morter launched his music career in 1969, playing with Hunter Muskett and David Bowie and went on his first major tour supporting Ralph McTell. He has also supported Jethro Tull, Joan Armatrading and Elkie Brooks.The only female member of The Gathering is vocalist Kristina Donahue.
