THE British Philharmonic Concert Orchestra will get audiences into the festive mood at The Playhouse, Weston, on December 8, when it performs its acclaimed Viennese Strauss Christmas Gala show.Re-creating the nostalgia and romance of the Viennese festive season, the show introduces the audience to a by-gone age of glamour and Strauss waltzes. The performance comprises highlights from some of the great operettas of Strauss, Kalman and Lehar, including Die Fledermaus, The Merry Widow and The Student Prince.In addition to sparkling Strauss waltzes and Viennese favourites such as The Blue Danube, The Thunder and Lightning Polka, The Emperor Waltz, and The Tritsch Tratsch Polka, the programme has a distinctive Christmas feel.Audiences can enjoy and join in with the British Philharmonic Concert Orchestra as it performs traditional favourites such as White Christmas, Jingle Bells and Silent Night.
