PLANS for a wind farm near Burnham have been officially registered with Sedgemoor District Council. The proposal to build five 78-metre high wind turbines for the site at Inner Farm between Burnham and Brent Knoll was originally submitted last month despite many nearby residents being against the plans. But Sedgemoor District Council said the applicant, green firm Ecotricity, hadn't submitted enough information. Now bosses at Ecotricity say the company has convinced the council it has given them sufficient details. The plans were registered on Wednesday but it could take up to 16 weeks to consider the application.Ecotricity managing director, Dale Vince, said: "The application that has been submitted is the same one that was submitted originally."Ecotricity wants to build the turbines on a piece of land measuring just over seven acres. The closest a turbine would be to any house is 440 metres. But the proposals have been met with growing opposition from residents. Shortly after the plans were submitted a group called kNOll To Wind Farm was set up to oppose the plans.
