Winscombe choir is looking for sponsors

WINSCOMBE choir is looking for sponsors to help set up a charity concert in aid of terminally ill children.
The choir performs a fundraising concert every Christmas. Last year members raised more than £5,000 for a charity which works with children suffering from Tourette’s syndrome.
The singers are holding another festive concert this year, but need sponsors to step forward to help set it up.
Choir leader Erwina Worthy said: “Every time we do a concert we try to focus on children’s charities.
“This year we are raising money for the Jessie May Foundation, which looks after terminally ill children. What it means is at the end of their battle they can stay with their families and friends instead of having to go to hospital.
“Although the charity has been around a while, it is not a very well known charity. They have just done up a residential home, so if it is not possible for children to stay at home they still have somewhere to go where they can be with their family.
“They only have space for 71 children and are having to turn some away who are in need of help. One of the families in our village is affected so we said we would raise some money.”
The choir needs to cover the cost of the hall, refreshments and the band. Anyone wishing to help should contact the choir through its website, www.winscombecommunitychoir.org.uk/
