Winter ice rink for Tropicana

A WINTER ice rink is the latest feature which could be added to Havard Tisdale’s plan for the Tropicana.
The company handed in its bid to turn the former attraction into an island-style leisure complex with a hotel and flats to North Somerset Council last week.
The submission follows a public exhibition which saw 130 people attend to give their comments on preliminary proposals.
The firm’s outline plan is for a seven-storey-high complex with an 80-bed hotel and 60 apartments, plus a swimming pool and car parking.
But it is now considering including an ice rink following comments made at the exhibition last month.
Director Peter Tisdale said: “The community has provided us with lots of valuable feedback and ideas regarding our preliminary plans.
“As a result we are currently reviewing a number of options with operators, including the possible inclusion of a winter ice rink.”
The company’s proposal will be on display at a North Somerset Council-organised exhibition at the Winter Gardens from 9.30am-1pm on January 21 and 22.
