A woman was banned from Weston-super-Mare town centre after refusing to stop drinking alcohol in a park in front of young children.

The woman, who is in her 20s, received a 24-hour banning notice from the town centre and Grove Park on Friday.

A police spokesman said: “She was drinking alcohol, being abusive, swearing etc and resisted instructions from officers to leave.

“It’s a no-drinking zone and the park was full of kids.”
