A woman has died after being hit by a train near Uphill.

The British Transport Police were called to the scene at 5.30pm yesterday (Thursday) following reports a person had been struck by a train.

Emergency services confirmed the woman died at the scene.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and officers are working to confirm the woman’s identity.

All lines between Weston-super-Mare and Taunton were closed while the emergency services treated the woman.
