A YATTON woman, who was bullied at school and struggled with her image for many years, has entered a national competition.
Bilitis Wrate, aged 29, is competing in the Miss Pinup UK 2015 contest and is asking the public to support her as she looks to progress to the quarter-finals.
She told the Mercury: “For years I have been very body negative and have put myself down.
“I was bullied at school and felt very negative. I’ve always felt no-one would want to look at me, then I moved to Yatton and decided to try something new. This is where I started burlesque classes and got into the pinup world.
“Since starting this my outlook has changed and my confidence has grown. I am now confident in my curves and try to put out the idea of a positive body image.”
Bilitis, whose stage name is Amethyst Fury, hopes to win enough online votes to progress.
