DRUNKEN women are causing problems at bars and clubs in Weston by getting tipsy before leaving home.Door staff and licensees have criticised those who appear sober when they enter clubs but quickly become worse for wear as the effects of alcohol drunk at home kick in. They raised their concerns at a meeting with police. It was agreed door staff would contact the police when the situation arises to make sure that drunken revellers are cared for and do not fall victim to robberies, assaults or other crimes.Specialist alcohol officer PC Karl Waltho said: "Girls particularly are drinking horrendous amounts before going out and can end up virtually on the floor."Venue owners get annoyed because they aren't selling all the alcohol, but they get the blame."The police are not there to mother anyone, but we all have a duty of care and I would rather we stepped in at an early stage than deal with the after effects.
