Women stranded as tide comes in

PUBLISHED: 18:57 11 July 2011

TWO 22-year-olds were rescued by the coastguard when they became stranded while on a walk this afternoon (Mon).

The tide came in and covered the footpath the females had taken to the area, off Brean Down.

The coastguard said it received a call from the ‘distressed’ women shortly before 5pm.

A team went out to them and took them safely to shore.

The sudden high tide had covered their route back to safety.
