The competition, which is backed by the Mercury, was organised by the Birnbeck Regeneration Trust as part of its efforts to restore crumbling Birnbeck Pier.

Photos of beautiful scenes and landmarks from across Weston-super-Mare were submitted in their hundreds by Mercury readers since the competition opened almost two months ago.

Judges will meet today (Thursday) to study entries, and entrants will be told whether their photos have been selected for the next round of the competition no later than Tuesday.

For more information on the next stage of the competition, pick up a copy of next week’s Mercury.
