WORK has continued to limit the damage caused by flooding in Locking Castle.
Following the flooding on Sunday and Monday, a Wessex Water flood storage pond in Summer Lane overfilled and flooded nearby roads and paths.
North Somerset Council and Wessex Water are still working to reduce the flood waters by pumping it away from the affected sites.
The Locking Castle medical centre was evacuated yesterday (Tues) while the nearby Baytree School has been closed today (Weds) as work continues.
A road closure is in place from the bottom of the Summer Lane bridge junction with Glastonbury Way to the other side of the bridge at the roundabout junction with Bransby Way.
Wessex Water is creating a footway to allow access for residents over the bridge, while vehicle access for residents will also be permitted.
A flood defence wall has been constructed and residents neighbouring it have been given gel bags, which will act like sand bags to protect their properties should the water breach the wall.
