WORK to build a new community of 900 homes on the former Weston Airfield is now under way.
The new Haywood Village development has begun with the creation of new roads to access the site.
Persimmon Homes broke ground on the project last week, and says the design is based on ‘traditional’ community values.
Sales and marketing director Nicola Reed said: “We are so pleased to be able to bring this exciting new village to fruition, it will be unlike any other development we have created in Weston before. It is a real return to traditional values and the homes will truly compliment the surrounding area.”
The development will also feature an expansion of the nearby Loxton Business Park – which has already signed up Marstons, Travelodge and North Somerset Enterprise Agency – and is located near to the former RAF Locking, where a further 1,450 new homes will soon be built.
